Yoga Pilates Conference and Show in Vancouver

Yoga Journal Design a T-Shirt Contest
We stumbled across this contest the other day that Yoga Journal is offering: Design a t-shirt to represent the four US locations where YJ will hold yoga conferences in 2010. If
you win, you get 2 free tickets to the conference of your choice: San Fransisco, Florida, Boston or Colorado.
Our web designer, CFX Creative, also designs amazing t-shirts, and we wanted to design one together for this contest. However, the contest rules clearly stated that it was only open to US citizens. We were all very disappointed!
So . . . we emailed the folks at YJ to ask if they would consider allowing Canadians to enter the contest. And guess what? They graciously agreed and changed the rules on their website almost immediately. Sweet! Who says one (or two) people can't make a difference in the world?
That reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead
Of course, we encourage everyone to enter this contest!

SEPTEMBER'S HEALTHY WORKPLACE POSE
Legs up the Wall
(Viparita Karani)
BENEFITS
Relieves tired or cramped legs or feet, gently stretches back of legs, front of torso and neck, relieves mild backache, helps lymphatic fluid circulate through the body, helps improve varicose veins and helps with insomnia, depression and anxiety.
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Remove your shoes and socks if possible.
Step 2: Sit on the floor with either your left or right hip flush to the wall, legs straight. As you lie down on your back, straighten your legs up the wall and press your buttocks as close to the wall as you can. If needed, lie on a yoga mat, blanket or towel for extra cushioning.
Step 3: Place your arms at a 45 degree angle away from your body, palms facing upward.
Step 4: Close your eyes and completely relax, sinking into the floor. Stay here for as long as it feels comfortable.
Variation: If you have enough wall space, while in this position, open your legs widely apart into a "V" shape. This will stretch your inner thighs and groin area.
